Brown Receives Honorable Mention All-America Recognition

Baltimore, Md. - Men's Basketball senior guard Gerald Brown today was named an honorable mention selection for the Preseason Mid-Major All-America team. He was one of 26 players recognized for the national accolade.

The nation's third-leading returning scorer entering this year after finishing eight nationally at 22.2 points per game in his first campaign with the Greyhounds, Brown was a unanimous all-MAAC First Team selection and was tabbed a Mid-Major All-America by last season.

A native of Baltimore, Md., Brown led the MAAC in scoring and steals per game (1.86) and finished ranked among the conference leaders in eight of the 14 MAAC statistical categories. He recently was cited by The City Paper as Baltimore's Best Local Athlete. selected three five-person teams and added 11 individuals for honorable mention recognition. Three Greyhounds opponents were selected -- Rider senior center Jason Thompson was chosen for the first team, Niagara senior forward Charron Fisher received a second-team nod and Vermont junior guard Mike Trimboli made the third team.

The first opportunity to see the 2007-08 Greyhounds in action comes Friday, November 2, when Loyola hosts Villa Julie in an exhibition contest starting at 7:00 p.m. at Reitz Arena. The regular season begins the following week on Friday, November 9, as the Greyhounds visit the Towson Center for a tangle with the Tigers at 7 o'clock.
