Ethlerly Named To European Touring All-Star Team

Aug. 10, 2010

Baltimore, Md. - Sophomore forward Erik Etherly has begun a six-game, nine-day tour of Europe as a member of a United States All-Star team sponsored by the Global Sports Academy. Etherly landed in Mechelen, Belgium, this morning and will tour France and Germany as well before returning on August 17.

A resident of Annandale, Va., Etherly sat out last season while establishing his residency following his transfer from Northeastern University. He will suit up for the Greyhounds for the first time this season and will have three seasons of eligibility.

Games for Etherly and his United States teammates begin Wednesday and continue every day through Monday. The touring group returns to the States on August 17.

While in Belgium, the group will visit the cities of Mechelen, Brussels and Bruges before crossing the border into France and the city of Lille for one night. The trip concludes with stops in the German cities of Dusseldorf and Cologne before returning home.

Etherly is the third member of the Greyhounds' program to participate in this foreign tour. Recent graduate Brett Harvey went following his freshman season and junior guard J'hared Hall took part in a similar tour last summer.

Etherly, Hall and the Greyhounds open the 2010-2011 regular season on Friday, November 12 when they host Drexel University in Reitz Arena.
