Baltimore, Md. - Greyhounds junior guard Brett Harvey averaged 14.5 points over four games for the Hudson Valley entrant into the Empire State Games held in Binghamton, N.Y. over the weekend. Hudson Valley dropped the Bronze Medal game despite Harvey's 22 points.
After the Games-opening 97-84 victory over Central, Hudson Valley dropped its next two games in pool play, but still advanced to the Bronze Medal contest. Central captured the rematch and the medal with a 78-76 victory. Last year, Hudson Valley dropped the Championship game to Western and settled for the Silver Medal.
Harvey scored 22 points in the finale on eight field goals, five coming from three-point range. That effort game following games of 16 points Friday in a loss to New York City and 11 points Saturday in a loss to Long Island. Long Island captured the Gold Medal with a 104-78 win over New York City.
A two-year starter who has helped the Greyhounds to Division I records for wins with 18 and 19 the last two seasons, Harvey enters the year as the Loyola's second-leading returning scorer at 8.2 points per game while handing out 123 assists. The Greyhounds open the season on November 14 when they host Mount St. Mary's at Reitz Arena.
