July 28, 2005

Hengshui, China - The 2005 MAAC All-Star Basketball Team defeated the Chinese Soldiers, 115-83, in Hengshui to finish their tour of China with an undefeated record. Under the direction of Loyola basketball coach Jimmy Patsos, the MAAC All-Stars won seven games in two weeks.

In the tour finale, the MAAC All-Stars outscored their opponent, 40-13, in the third quarter behind Darnell Wilson (Canisius) and Jeff Xavier (Manhattan), who each scored eight points en route to the victory. Wilson finished the game with 19 points, and Xavier with 12. Loyola's Josko Alujevic recorded 10 points in the win.

"Once again these kids did a great job tonight," MAAC All-Stars head coach Jimmy Patsos said. "They passed the ball well, and functioned as a team well. I could not have been prouder of this team as representatives of the league."

"Darnell Wilson and Jason Thompson provided energy every game, and were the crowd pleasers on this trip with their dunks and athletic ability. It was an honor to coach this team, and I commend Commissioner Rich Ensor for the tremendous job he did in putting this tour together."

For the tour, Thompson averaged a team-high 16.1 points per game, while Wilson contributed 12.4 points each contest.
