Loyola Falls to Siena in MAAC Semifinal, 65-63

March 9, 2008

ALBANY, N.Y. - Josh Duell made a twisting layup with 20 seconds remaining to give Siena its first lead since early in the first half, and the top-seeded Saints held on for a 65-63 win over Loyola in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Confernece Championships.

The fourth-seeded Greyhounds led for the majority of the game until Siena's Alex Franklin tied the game at 63-63 with an offensive rebounds and putback with 1:12 left.

Loyola missed two 3-pointers and had a layup attempt blocked following Franklin's game-tying shot.

Marquis Sullivan led Loyola with 14 points off the bench, while Gerald Brown and Michael Tuck each scored 13 in their final game for the Greyhounds. Omari Isreal scored 12 and had a career-high 18 rebounds for Loyola.

Franklin led all scorers with 22 points.

The loss ends Loyola's season at 19-14, while Siena advanced to tomorrow's MAAC title game and will face the winner of the second MAAC Semifinal between Rider and Marist.
