CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Loyola University Maryland junior forward Franz Rassman was named to the Patriot League All-Academic Team for the second straight year on Wednesday morning.
The native of Washington, D.C., finished the regular-season with one of his best stretches of play, scoring 12.2 points over the final six games prior to the Patriot League Championships. He finished the season averaging 8.0 points for the season to go with 4.5 rebounds and 24 total blocked shots.
Through the end of the fall semester, Rassman carries a 3.939 grade-point average as a business administration major.
He is a member of the five-person team for the second year in a row, joining Seth Hinrichs and Joey Ptasinski of Lafayette College, American University's Jesse Reed and John Schoof. Reed was named the Patriot League Men's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive year.
In the final six games of the regular-season, Rassman shot 50 percent from the field and made 4-of-5 3-pointers. He scored in double-figures for the first five of those games, tallying a career-best 19 on Feb. 22 against Colgate University.
Last month, he was named to the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District II First Team for the second-straight year.
