Feb. 28, 2005

Baltimore, Md. - Freshman Freddie Stanback was named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Rookie rookie team, the league office announced today. Stanback, 6-5 power forward from Lanham, Md., joins C.J. Anderson (Manhattan), Ryan Stilphen (Marist), Jason Thompson (Rider) and Jack McClinton (Siena) on this year's All-Rookie squad.

"Freddie was the cornerstone of our recruiting class a year ago," says Loyola Head Coach Jimmy Patsos. "He hung in there all year and did a very good job playing a lot of minutes as a freshman."

Stanback finished the regular season with a team-high139 rebounds, with 36 assists and 18 steals. He also averaged 9.6 points per game and connected on a team-best 35 three-point field goals. Loyola ended the regular season with six wins and earned the No. 9 seed in this weekend's MAAC Tournament. The Greyhounds play Manhattan on Friday night at 9:30 p.m.
