BALTIMORE, Md. - Coming off an 85-69 loss against Siena on Valentine's Day, the Greyhound men's basketball team will look to get back on the winning track when Loyola hosts High Point University in the first-ever meeting between the two teams on Friday night.
Tip-off from Reitz Arena is set for 7:00 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on WNST-AM 1570 in addition to Loyola's athletics website with Rich Gainer and Baltimore Ravens defensive end Anthony Weaver calling the action.
Despite a team-high 20 points from senior guard Andre Collins, the Greyhounds were unable to stop a hot-shooting Siena squad on Tuesday as the Saints hit a season-high 15 three-point field goals. Sophomore Brad Farrell added 14 points for the Greyhounds, who lost their sixth straight road contest.
With three games left in the regular season, the Greyhounds face High Point with a 12-12 record. After the 16-point setback, Loyola has lost seven of its last eight games. The Greyhounds will play two games next weekend before the MAAC Tournament.
The Panthers snapped a three-game losing streak on Wednesday night with a 73-72 victory over VMI at Millis Athletic Center. Mike Jefferson scored a team-high 19 points to lead High Point while Arizona Reid tallied 18 points and 9 rebounds.
Reid leads the Panthers in scoring and rebounding, averaging 18.7 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. He is also shooting 49.3 per cent from the floor and 46.4 per cent from three-point range. Landon Quick has a team-high 87 assists in 23 games this season.
Friday's game is a pool game included in the BracketBusters presented by eBay event. As part of the agreement, Loyola will travel to High Point next season.
The Greyhounds will travel to Rider University next Friday to face the Broncs before ending the regular season against Canisius at home next Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
