Feb. 5, 2015

BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryland forward Franz Rassman was named to the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District II for the second season in a row.

The junior from Washington, D.C., has posted a 3.94 grade-point average and has been a member of the Loyola Dean's List for each of the five semesters he has completed at the University.

Rassman has started each of the Greyhounds' last 52 games, dating back to the 2013-2014 season-opener, and in 22 outings this year, he has averaged 7.0 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.

Last Sunday, Rassman scored a career-high 18 points in Loyola's 77-71 victory at the U.S. Military Academy. Earlier this year, he set his previous high with 16 points as Loyola defeated Columbia University on the road.

He is joined on the District II by fellow Patriot League player Seth Hinrichs of Lafayette College, as well as the University of Louisville's Wayne Blackshear, George Washington University's John Kopriva and University of Maryland Eastern Shore's Ishaq Pitt. Members of the eight district teams will now view for Academic All-America honors that will be announced later this month.

In addition to earning Academic All-District II honors last year, Rassman was also a member of the five-player Patriot League All-Academic Team.
