BALTIMORE - It's Saturday Insanity with Loyola University Maryland men's lacrosse and men's basketball this Saturday, Feb. 7. There will be fan and student giveaways and contests throughout the day, including a the Greyhound $10K Shootout during the men's basketball game against Lehigh that night in Reitz Arena.
The seventh-ranked Greyhound men's lacrosse team, picked to repeat as Patriot League champions, takes on No. 9 Virginia at the Ridley Athletic Complex Saturday at 1pm. The first 1,000 spectators through the Ridley Athletic Complex gates that day will receive a free Loyola Greyhounds winter beanie-style hat (pictured). In addition there will be a senior class tailgate starting at 11:30 a.m. under the Ridley endzone tent.
Gates will open at 11 a.m., and tickets can be purchased and printed at home by going to LoyolaGreyounds.com/tickets and following the appropriate links. Students can pick up a free game ticket at the box office in the Andrew White College Center today through Friday between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. To avoid box office lines and congestion at the front gates, ticket purchasers are advised to print their tickets at home, while students and staff members are encouraged to pick up their tickets in advance. Loyola staff members may request up to two free tickets for all Greyhound home lacrosse and basketball games.
At 7 p.m. in Reitz Arena the Loyola men's basketball team, which currently is in third place in the Patriot League, takes on Lehigh in a contest that will feature a $10,000 halfcourt student shootout. One student will be chosen at random to take one halfcourt shot with a $10,000 prize on the line. To be eligible students must be currently enrolled undergraduates at Loyola and must have a valid student identification card. Students who attend both the men's lacrosse and men's basketball games will get two entries in the raffle, however they must show a punched ticket from the men's lacrosse game. Loyola staff will be on hand to punch the tickets as students leave the Ridley Athletic Complex.
In addition to the halfcourt shootout, the first 100 students through the doors Saturday for the men's basketball game will receive a free Loyola Basketball hoodie, while the next 150 to enter will get free t-shirts.
