Men's Basketball Looks To Snap Skid On Super Bowl Sunday

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Looking to snap a four-game losing skid, the Greyhound men's basketball team travels to Manhattan College on Sunday afternoon to face the Jaspers beginning at 12:00 p.m.

The game will be broadcast on in addition to Sirius Satellite Radio with Rich Gainer and Marty Kelly providing the play-by-play. Sunday's match-up will also air on ESPNU as part of the conference's television package.

Now 11-9 on the season, the Greyhounds are coming off a tough 89-83 loss against Siena on Thursday night. Senior guard Andre Collins scored a team-high 26 points, but Loyola was unable to overcome a 32-point performance from Siena senior Antoine Jordan as the Saints snapped a three-game losing skid. Sophomores Freddie Stanback and Brad Farrell had season-high scoring performances for the Greyhounds, scoring 16 and 13 points, respectively.

Collins leads the Greyhounds in scoring, averaging 27.1 points per game. He has scored 20 or more points in 13 straight games, including five 30-point efforts. Sophomore Michael Tuck continues to have an outstanding comeback season, averaging 10.0 points per game with 6.4 rebounds per outing. He also leads the conference in field goal percentage, making 63.0 per cent of his attempts.

Manhattan enters Sunday's game with a 13-7 record after being held to its lowest point total in a 67-51 loss against Niagara on Friday night. The loss was the first for the Jaspers at Draddy Gym since late November against George Mason. Sophomore Arturo Dubois led the Jaspers with his fourth straight double-double by scoring a team-high 17 points with 11 rebounds. Meanwhile, Jeff Xavier scored 13 points in the setback for the Jaspers.

Sophomore C.J. Anderson leads the Jaspers in scoring despite missing the last four games. The 2005 MAAC Rookie of the Year, Anderson has averaged 18.8 points per game in 16 appearances. He is one of four Manhattan players to average more than 10 points per contest.

This will be the second meeting between the two teams as Manhattan won by 85-73 on December 11 at Reitz Arena. Anderson scored a team-high 20 points to lead four Jasper players in double figures. Collins led all players with a career-high 39 points in the loss.

The Greyhounds return home on Wednesday night to begin a two-game homestand with a 7:00 p.m. matchup against Iona College.
