Saint Peter's Is Next Stop For Men's Basketball

Jan. 18, 2007

Jersey City, N.J. - Their four-game winning streak snapped by a non-conference loss to Towson Monday, the Greyhounds return to MAAC play tonight sitting atop the league standings.

Since dropping a 66-55 decision to tonight's opponent in the opener of conference play in December, Loyola has won five straight in the league, including its only two MAAC road contests. Four of those wins have come against teams tabbed to finish ahead of the Greyhounds in the preseason coaches poll while the fifth came at the defending regular season champions.

Loyola never led in suffering a 70-62 home loss Monday to the Tigers of the CAA. Junior guard Gerald Brown collected team-high scoring honors with 26 points. Sophomore guard Marquis Sullivan was the only other Greyhound in double figures with 14.

Saint Peter's enters the contest having lost nine straight and 13 of 14, the latest loss Monday's 71-66 home defeat to Manhattan. The road swing through the conference's New Jersey members continues on Sunday when the Greyhounds visit Rider. The contest is a 4 o'clock start and will be carried live on MASN.

The Greyhounds return home Wednesday when they host Manhattan at Reitz Arena. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
