Baltimore, Md. - College basketball returns to Reitz Arena this weekend with a pair of men-women double-headers on slate. Canisius and Niagara are in town for four games, and it all gets underway this Friday at 6:30 p.m. when Loyola hosts the Golden Griffins in women's basketball action. The first game of the weekend will feature the 6-7 Greyhounds against the 6-7 Golden Griffins. Loyola is fresh of a 66-52 win over Siena and is led in scoring by sophomore Lauren Troupe. The Greyhounds split with Canisius last season as each team won on its home court. Loyola is 2-2 in the MAAC this year while Canisius enters with a 1-3 conference record.
The women's game will be followed by Loyola-Niagara men's basketball. The Greyhounds look for their first conference win of the season while the Purple Eagles look to start 6-1 on the road for the first time in their program's history. Loyola is led by Charlie Bell, who is scoring 15.4 points per game for the winless 'Hounds. Loyola-Niagara is set to tip off at 8:30 p.m.
On Sunday, all three schools return with Loyola's women playing host to Niagara at 2 p.m. Just like its match-up with Canisius, the Loyola women split with Niagara last season, winning on their home floor. The Greyhounds do hold a 21-9 all-time series edge but both teams enter the weekend with 2-2 MAAC records.
At approximately 4 p.m. on Sunday, the Loyola men will tip against Canisius. The Golden Griffins have yet to win a conference game this season, but have won their last three meetings with Loyola. For the Greyhounds, Sunday's game will conclude a three-game homestand, its' longest of the season.
