Baltimore, Md. - Posting victories in its last four conference clashes, the Greyhounds welcome Niagara to Reitz Arena Friday night for a MAAC contest. Loyola's 4-1 record has it in a three-way tie with Marist and Siena, teams the Greyhounds recently defeated. Niagara sits just one game behind at 3-2.
Loyola is coming off a thrilling 94-87 overtime victory at Siena Tuesday night, its third straight victory. Junior guard Gerald Brown poured in 33 points for the second time in three games to lead five Greyhounds in double figures. Junior forward Michael Tuck scored 15 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. Senior forward Josko Alujevic and freshman guard Brett Harvey each added 13 points and sophomore guard Marquis Sullivan contributed 10. Senior Shane James played some key minutes off the bench, stripping the ball from Siena's Kenny Hasbrouck at the end of regulation and then scoring the first basket of overtime to give Loyola an early lead.
The Purple Eagles defeated Fairfield at home Tuesday and have won seven of nine games after opening the season 1-6.
Loyola returns to action Monday when it hosts cross-town rival Towson in a game that will be televised live on MASN. Game time is scheduled for 7 o'clock.
