Men's Basketball Goes For Second Straight Win Against Marist

BALTIMORE, Md. - Coming off an exciting 82-70 win over Niagara on Friday night, the Greyhound men's basketball team returns to action on Sunday afternoon against Marist College at Reitz Arena beginning at 1:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on WNST-AM 1570 and www.loyolagreyhounds.com with Rich Gainer, Jon Siegel and Anthony Weaver calling the action.

Now 8-3 on the season, the Greyhounds earned the 12-point win over the Purple Eagles behind a stellar second-half performance by senior guard Andre Collins . After being held to just four points in the first half, Collins scored the Greyhounds' first 15 points following the intermission. He ended the game with a game-high 28 points, including a perfect six for six from the free throw line.

Making his Reitz Arena debut, junior forward Hassan Fofana scored 10 points and added 12 rebounds while sophomore Michael Tuck had a career night with 22 points and 11 rebounds.

The second leading scorer in the nation, Collins continues to lead the Greyhounds by averaging 27.0 points per game. He has been the team's leading scorer in all 11 games so far this season. Fofana is averaging 12.4 points per game in five games while contributing 8.2 rebounds per contest.

The Red Foxes are 5-5 on the season, but winless in three conference games after suffering a 76-67 setback against Canisius on Thursday night, which snapped a three-game win streak. Junior Jared Jordan and sophomore Ryan Stilphen led Marist with 17 points each against the Golden Griffs, while senior Carl Hood added 10 points.

Jordan is the team's leading scorer by averaging 15.8 points per game while Stilphen and James Smith average 6.8 rebounds per contest.

The Red Foxes lead the series against Loyola by a 24-12 margin and have won the last two affairs between the teams, including a 71-53 victory on January 22 of last year.

Loyola will start a three-game road trip on Thursday night when the Greyhounds take on the Golden Griffs.
