Loyola Defeats James Madison, 64-54

DAVIDSON, N.C. (AP) -Jamal Barney scored 19 points in the second half as Loyola (Md.) held off James Madison 64-54 in a NIT Season Tip-Off consolation game on Monday.

Barney finished with 23 points for the Greyhounds (2-3), who led by as many as 14 points in the first half before the Dukes mounted a comeback.

Brett Harvey added 18 points and Marquis Sullivan 11 for Loyola, which shot 47.6 percent from the field.

Julius Wells scored 13 points and Kyle Swanston had 10 for James Madison (2-2), which rallied despite shooting just 29.3 percent from the field, including 22.2 percent in the first half.

Down 30-19 at the break, the Dukes opened the second half on an 11-2 run - capped by Dazzmond Thornton's jumper with 17:06 left - to pull within 32-29.

The Greyhounds scored nine unanswered points in the next 3:15 to push their lead into double digits.
