Loyola Falls To Mount St. Mary's In Sold Out Home Opener

Baltimore, Md. - Sophomores Jamal Barney and Isaac Reid both scored 14 points and lead the team in rebounds with five and six respectively, but Loyola fell to Mount St. Mary's in Friday night's rival game at Reitz Arena.

Down by five with 1:32 remaining in the game, junior Brett Harvey was fouled had a chance to make it a one possession game. After sinking both shots, bringing the score to 77-73, the Greyhounds now needed a stop on defense. Junior Jeremy Goode would not allow it and found senior Sam Atupem under the basket for a quick layup. The Greyhounds then had two turnovers, giving Mount St. Mary's the chance to take control in the last few minutes of the game.s

Five Loyola players scored in the double digits. Harvey had 13 total points and two assist and sophomore Brian Rudolph finished the night with 11 points and four assists. Sophomore Tony Lewis scored a total of 12 points.

For the Mountaineers, Goode finished the night with 25 total points and four assists. Junior Kelly Beidler had 17 total points and lead the team 12 total rebounds. Sophomore Shawn Atupem had 13 points.
