Baltimore, Md. - Senior guard Andre Collins scored 22 points in his Loyola College debut to lead the Greyhounds to a 94-48 win over Lakehead University in an exhibition game on Thursday night at Reitz Arena. Collins, who finished the game with 22 points, eight assists and five rebounds, was one of four Loyola players in double figures.
Connecting on 6-of-8 three point field goals, Collins scored most of his points from well beyond the three-point arc. Scoring early and often, the Greyhounds raced out to a 28-6 lead and never looked back. Sophomore Freddie Stanback scored all 11 of his points in the first half to give the `Hounds a 55-26 edge at intermission.
The Greyhounds somewhat cooled off in the second half, shooting 52 percent from the field after making 64 percent of their shots in the first stanza. Freshman Marquis Sullivan was impressive in his first collegiate action, scoring 14 points on 4-of-7 shooting from three-point range. Freshman Sky Khaleel scored eight points in the win, pulled down three rebounds and registered two blocked shots in 18 minutes of game time.
As a team, Loyola made 58 percent of its shots and 48 percent of its three-pointers. Freshman Jawaan Wright led the team with eight rebounds while sophomore Brad Farrell chipped in with 10 points, four rebounds and four assists.
Scott Seeley and Chris Richards each scored 12 points for Lakehead in the loss.
The Greyhounds will conclude exhibition action next Friday night when they host Johns Hopkins at Reitz Arena. Game time is 7 p.m.
