EDISON, N.J. - A standout student at Loyola University Maryland, Tim Burns has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's Male Student-Athlete of the Week.
He earned ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District II Cross Country & Track & Field honors as a junior in 2009-2010. Entering this season year for the Greyhounds, Burns carries a perfect 4.0 grade point average as a mechanical engineering major.
As a junior, Burns was Loyola's No. 4 finisher, and 52nd overall, at the MAAC Championships, and he took home a 53rd-place finish for the Greyhounds at the Navy Invitational.
Burns is a six-time Dean's List honoree at Loyola and three-time member of the school's Athletic Director's Honor Roll. He has earned MAAC All-Academic laurels two times, as well.
The Randolph, N.J., native has had a strong start to his senior season. Burns finished 118th at the National Catholic Invitational at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. He was also 44th at the Seagull Opener to begin the season.
