BALTIMORE - The Loyola University Maryland men’s and women’s cross country teams finalized their 2013 fall schedule, head coach Rick Woods and the athletic department announced Wednesday.
The Greyhounds will take part in four regular-season meets before heading to the Greyhounds’ first-ever Patriot League Championships at Lafayette College in Easton, Pa., on Saturday, November 2.
Last season, the women placed fourth at the conference championships, while the men took tenth.
Loyola opens its season for the third-straight year at the Seagull Open on Saturday, August 31. Last year, rising sophomore Erica Canas was the top finisher on the women’s side, helping the Greyhounds to fourth. DJ Puleo was Loyola's top male finisher, taking 15th on the 8k course, as the Greyhounds finished eighth as a team.
The Greyhounds will travel to fellow Patriot League School, the United States Naval Academy, to take part in the Salty Dog Invite on September 14. Loyola will travel to Bethlehem, Pa., for the Paul Short Invitational on October 5, before finishing up the regular season at its second Patriot League stop, Easton, Pa. for the Leopard Invitational hosted by Lafayette College.
After making the trip to the conference championships, the Greyhounds look to continue their success at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional, where Loyola’s women finished in the top-50 percent last season, and the men took 25th overall.
