Men's And Women's Cross Country Earn All-Academic Status

NEW ORLEANS - The Loyola University Maryland men's and women's cross country teams both earned United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic status during the 2011 season, as announced by the organization earlier this week.

To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, a team must have had a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship.

The women's side was once of seven teams from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference to earn the distinction, finishing the season with a 3.33 cumulative GPA. National champion Georgetown was named the USTFCCA Scholar-Team of the YEar.

The men's team finished the season with a 3.07 GPA and also was one of seven MAAC teams to earn the honor. National champion Wisconsin earned USTFCCA Scholar-Team of the Year.
