Bronx, N.Y. - The Loyola men's cross country team officially closed the 2007 season at the IC4A Championships at Van Cortlandt Park in New York on Saturday afternoon. The Greyhounds placed eight overall with underclassmen attributing to all the Loyola scoring.
"We ran on tired legs after last weekend's NCAA Regional," said Head Coach Rick Woods. "But overall it was a very nice way to end the season - I'm happy with the way we finished."
Junior Chris Heibell led the Greyhounds once again as the top scorer. His 10th-place finish earned him All-EC4A honors. Loyola's second scorer was sophomore Terry Moran, who returned to early-season form with his 37th-place showing.
Apart from being encouraged by his youth-filled scoring and next year's squad, Coach Woods also took great pleasure in sophomore Dan McDevitt's continued improvement this season, culminating in a solid 42nd-place finish at Saturday's championships.
Junior Keith Forlenza (61st) and freshmen Stephen Febish (101st) rounded out the Loyola scoring. The Greyhound women, who did not compete in the regional championship meet, will begin indoor track competition in two weeks.
