BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Graduate student Kiera Harrison tied her newly recorded program record, running the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional in a time of 20:51, Friday afternoon.
Harrison guided the women to a 20th place finish (546), while finishing 24th individually. The top-25 finish qualified her for all-region honors. Loyola finished ahead of fellow Patriot League competitor Lafayette College, and local cross-town rival Towson University.
Following Harrison was junior Anna Bosse who clocked a time of 21:59. Fellow classmate Kelly Maguire took third on Loyola with a 132nd place finish in 22:58. Rounding out the scoring efforts were Erica Canas (144th, 23:14), Jessica Peters (161st, 23:47), Sara Gilson (165th, 23:51) and Caitlyn McGuinness (173rd, 24:12).
Villanova University (31), Georgetown University (35), and Penn State (92) took first, second and third, respectively on the women’s side. The three teams combined for the top-four individual finishers Friday afternoon.
Freshman Kevin Montgomery paced Loyola’s men’s team, as the Greyhounds finished 26th with 788 points. Montgomery took 139th out of 179 runners in 33:30, as the top-two Greyhounds were separated by nearly 30 seconds. Sophomore Patrick Makles came across the finish line in 34:03, taking 148th overall. Rookie Samuel Ballard was the third Greyhound finisher, taking 165th and clocking a time of 35:24. Sitting only two spots back was fellow teammate Michael Michon, finishing 167th in 35:26. Chris Regan (169th, 35:44), Nicholas Barletta (171st, 36:04) and Brad Beard (173rd, 36:24) also contributed to the Loyola total.
Villanova swept the meet, also taking first on the men’s side, with a combined total of 34 points. Princeton University took second with 60 points, while Georgetown University rounded out the top-three with 63 points.
