Princess Anne, Md. - Dan McDevitt finished 27th individually to lead the men's and women's cross country teams at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional hosted by Maryland-Eastern Shore (UMES) Saturday afternoon. Amanda Bossi paced the women as they finished 22nd of 27 women's teams. The men placed 23rd of 28 teams on the day.
A senior co-captain, McDevitt just missed out on all-region honors by 2.4 seconds with a 32:52.8 finishing time on the 10k course. Following McDevitt was junior Stephen Febish who clocked in at 35:12.2. Fellow junior Tim Burns took third on Loyola with a 165th place finish in 36:20.2. Rounding out the scoring for the Greyhounds were senior Terry Moran (173rd, 36:40.9) and sophomore Matthew Hassett (174th, 36:55.4). Sophomore Louis Manna took sixth on the team in 37:32.0 out of 196 runners.
Bossi finished 89th of 190 runners in 23:51 as the top five were separated by just 1:44. Junior Kate Cervo responded after a pair of disappointing finishes with a 24:26, good for 128th overall. Cervo was followed two seconds later by Stephanie Gibney (24:28) and thirteen seconds before sophomore Emily Doucette (24:39). Senior Courtney McNamara took fifth on the squad in 25:35. Jackie D'Antonio and Brittney Gibbons finished just after McNamara in 25:36 and 25:39, respectively.
Next up for the cross country teams is the IC4A/ECAC Championships held in the Bronx, N.Y., on Saturday, November 21.
