Women's Cross Country Wins Battlefield Invitational; Men Finish 9th of 28

GETTYSBURG, PA - Loyola freshman Andrea Rovegno won her fourth gold medal of the year and junior Jackie Truncellito took third place as the Greyhound women's cross country team captured its third team title this season at Saturday's Battlefield Invitational hosted by Gettysburg University, while Loyola's men's team finished ninth out of 28 teams.

Rovegno recorded a course-record 6,000-meter time of 23:02.88 as Truncellito finished the race in a time of 23:44.79 to take the bronze medal. Head coach Chris Bayless' squad placed five others in the top-25 with Grace Wetzel taking eighth, Adrianne Blauvelt taking ninth, Colleen Depman grabbing 11th, Gretchen Schuller finishing 15th and Jackie Gaines coming in 22nd.

The Greyhounds recorded a meet-winning score of 32 points, crushing second-place Gettysburg, who scored 67 points.

Loyola junior James daSilva led the men's ninth-place effort with his 8,000-meter time of 26:43.

"The men's team ran well and in a good group," said Bayless, who saw Ronan McDermott, John Mulligan, Perry Salonia, Jon White, Sean Cahill, and Pat Rice fill out the two through six positions for the Greyhounds.

Loyola returns to action on Friday, October 31st for its most important race of the year -- thye MAAC Championshps.
