Women's Cross Country Takes Third At Goucher Invite

TOWSON, Md. - After competing at the Penn State National on Friday afternoon, the Loyola University Maryland women's cross country team sent several athletes to the Goucher College Invitational, where they placed third on Saturday morning in Towson, Md.

Head coach Rick Woods took the opportunity to send many of his younger runners to the local meet, where they performed well against Division I, II and III competition.

The Greyhounds had each of their scoring positions finish in the top-30 to total 93 points. Host Goucher College finished first with 34 points while York College of Pennsylvania placed second with 56 points.

Freshman Mary DeGregorio was the top finisher for Loyola, placing 13th with a time of 27:14. Classmate Alyssa Dorney was next in 15th with a time of 27:25.

Sophomore Rachel Nerenberg  rounded-out the top-20 finishers for the Greyhounds, crossing the finish line in 18th with a time of 27:58.

The Loyola scoring positions were finished up by a pair of freshmen in Kellyanne Bondulich and Lauren Puleo. Bondulich placed 21st in 27:58 while Puleo came in 26th with a time of 28:30.

The Greyhounds next compete at the MAAC Championships on Oct. 28 in Bronx, N.Y.
