Cross Country Finishes Fourth At Gettysburg Invitational

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Senior Caitlin Dunne won the women's individual title with a time of 22:05.37 to lead the Greyhound women's cross country team to a fourth place finish at the Gettysburg College Cross Country Invitational Meet on Saturday morning.

Meanwhile, sophomore Brian Parker finished in eighth place overall to lead the Loyola men's squad to a fourth place finish with a time of 26:57.57.

Dunne recorded her fourth Top 10 finish of the season and the third Top 5 performance in earning her first individual championship of the season. Her previous best finish was a third place showing at the Mount St. Mary's Duals in the season opener.

"Caitlin was the star of the show today," Coach Rick Woods said. "She ran an absolutely amazing race and deserved to win. She has done an outstanding job for us so far this season and it showed today."

Freshman Elizabeth Norrish was the second Greyhound to cross the finish line, registering a 20th place time of 24:23.40, while junior Colleen Depman followed in 24th place with a mark of 24:33.67.

Parker helped the Greyhounds finish fourth with an eighth place showing at Gettysburg while junior Brendan O'Kane was second on the team with a time of 27:24.43, which was good for 26th place. Freshman Chris Heibell followed with a mark of 27:44.09, which ranked 32nd out of 232 runners.

The Greyhounds will be idle until October 28 when they compete at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championships at Van Courtlandt Park, New York.
