ORLANDO, FL - Loyola's women's cross country team continued its fabulous 2003 run on Saturday at the Walt Disney World Classic when the Greyhounds took fourth place out of 28 teams while Loyola's men's squad performed well too, finishing in 15th place.
Freshman Andrea Rovegno recorded another stellar performance as she crossed the finish line in 10th place after completing the 5,000-meter course in a time of 18:30.85. Greyhound teammates Jackie Truncellito (19:04), Grace Wetzel (19:08), Adrienne Blauvelt (19:10), Gretchen Schuller (19:35), and Colleen Depman (19:54) all followed close behind.
Loyola is currently ranked No. 13 in the Mid-Atlantic Region Coaches' Poll and Saturday's showing against some more national-caliber competition should only help their cause in the polls.
The Greyhound men were led by junior James daSilva who ran an impressive 8,000-meter time of 26:11 to finish in 19th place while sophomores Ronan McDermott (28:05), Pat Rice (28:38), Sean Cahill (28:48), John Mulligan (29:00), and Jon White (29:18) rounded out the scoring for Loyola.
Loyola returns to action Saturday, October 18th when it heads to Gettysburg University for the Battlefield Invitational.
