Women's Cross Country Takes Second At Great American Invitational; Men Run Well

Sept. 28, 2003

RALEIGH, NC - Loyola freshman Andrea Rovegno took fourth place overall as she led the Greyhound women's team to a second place finish in the 21-team seeded university division at the Great American Invitational hosted by North Carolina State University on Friday.

The Greyhounds defeated 15 nationally-ranked Division I and II opponents in what was probably the biggest meet in which Loyola has ever participated. Loyola missed first place by a mere 10 points to national powerhouse North Florida University.

Rovegno was followed by teammates Jackie Truncellito, who grabbed second for Loyola, Grace Wetzel, who finished third on the team, Gretchen Schuller, who nabbed fourth, and Colleen Depman, who was the fifth Greyhound to complete the 5,000-meter course.

Greyhound James daSilva led the men's team for the fourth consecutive race.
