PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Kieran Dowling led the Loyola men's cross country team with a 18th-place finish on Saturday at the Cappy Anderson Invitational, helping the Greyhounds to a fourth place finish.
Dowling covered the 8,000-meter course in 27:17.34 at the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore.
The Loyola women's team placed seventh at the meet.
Matt Hassett was not far behind Dowling, taking 20th place in 27:22.25, while Timothy Burns was 25th in 27:36.98. He finished just steps ahead of Charlie Donnelly, who placed 26th in 27:37.40.
Sean Barrett rounded out Loyola's scoring with a 33rd-place finish in 28:23.89.
Louis Manna (35th/28:27.65), Ian McArtney (40th/29:02.54), Brian Scullin (42nd/29:07.93), David Gerz (44th/29:16.18), Jeffrey Malone (52nd/31:21.35) and Patrick Sullivan (55th/32:49.99) also ran for the Greyhounds.
Alyssa Doyle was the women's top finisher in 17th-place, running a time of 19:25.54 on the 3.1-mile course.
The Greyhounds resume competition next Saturday, September 27, at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis.
