The United States Naval Academy won the men's race with 17 points and was followed by American University (74 points), UMBC (85), Johns Hopkins University (107), University of Richmond (120), George Washington University (142), Loyola (228), Howard University (254), McDaniel College (256) and Bowie State University (299).
Regan led the pack for Loyola with a 56th-place finish, covering the 8k course in 27:19.77. Freshman Alex Saffadi took second for the Greyhounds, finishing 63rd in 27:49.50.
Sophomores Kevin Montgomery (65th place) and Michael Michon (66th) crossed the finish line within 15 seconds of each other, recording times of 27:58.97 and 28:12.13, respectively. Junior Chris O'Brien was the final Greyhound to contribute points to the team total, taking 69th with a time of 28:27.17.
Zachary Nerenberg (70th, 28:38.48), John Miller (72nd, 28:42.93), Brad Beard (73rd, 28:44.96), Tom Porth (76th, 29:48.28), Michael O'Donnell (80th, 30:24.63) and Sean Brennan (81st, 30:41.86) all competed Saturday morning.
Johns Hopkins took home the women's title, totaling 24 points on the 6k course. Host Navy finished second with 53 points, while Richmond (78), UMBC (99) and George Washington (144) rounded out the top five teams. The University of Maryland finished sixth with 155 points, followed by Loyola (177), Loyola (208), American (228), Howard (288), McDaniel (304) and Bowie State (348).
Kendyl Fahmy (96th, 26:10.38), Daniella Joyce (104th, 26:29.00), Caitlyn McGuinness (106th, 26:43.53), Olivia Sbrocco (107th, 26:44.96), Julianne Groshon (108th, 26:45.38), Amanda Spaeth (115th, 27:14.36), Kellyanne Bondulich (119th, 27:37.25), Mary DeGregorio (120th, 27:41.33) and Emily Richards (123rd, 29:04.02) also raced at the invitational.
Saturday, Oct. 4, Loyola will travel to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, to race in the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University.
