Maluccio, Gorczakowski To Attend MAAC SAAC Event At Disney

EDISON, N.J. - Twenty MAAC student-athletes, including Loyola University Maryland's Kelly Maluccio and Bobby Gorczakowski, will meet in Orlando, Florida October 25-28 for the league's semi-annual Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) meeting.

Maluccio is a senior on Loyola's swimming and diving team, and Gorczakowski is a senior men's tennis student-athelte.

The four-day event will give the student-athletes an opportunity to meet other student-athletes from around the league and share ideas to improve SAAC and the overall student-athlete experience at their institutions.

Late Thursday evening, the student-athletes will arrive at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort, where they will all have the chance to become acquainted with one another. Friday, they will volunteer with Give Kids the World, participate in a Town Hall Forum filmed for ESPN3 and attend the Disney Institute on Leadership at Epcot.

The Town Hall Forum is designed to enhance the student-athlete voice, promote the activities institutional SAAC's are involved with and increase SAAC awareness. Also in attendance will be Canisius College Associate Dean and Director of Sport Administration Dr. Shawn O'Rourke, who will encourage the discussion, and MAAC Commissioner Rich Ensor.

On Saturday, SAAC will attend and volunteer at the MAAC Men's and Women's Cross Country Championship at ESPN Wide World of Sports. Besides volunteering at the meet, student-athletes will experience a MAAC championship in a sport other than their own and be able to cheer on their fellow classmates.

The SAAC meeting will commence that afternoon at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. They will also have the chance to meet with Disney Interns to learn about their experiences working at Disney. All 10 MAAC institution's will be represented at the meeting, with Saint Peter's University baseball student-athlete Adam Purcilly serving as chair. Purcilly will facilitate the SAAC meeting and give an update from the Division I National SAAC.

Later that evening, SAAC will attend the MAAC Men's and Women's Cross Country awards show and banquet in Disney's Animal Kingdom. The student-athletes will then spend Sunday at the parks before returning to their schools.
