Women's Tennis Fares Well At Saint Joe's Invitational

Sept. 28, 2014 PHILADELPHIA - Olivia Ott and Emily Hughes teamed to advance to the quarterfinals of the No. 2 Doubles flight this weekend at the Saint Joseph's Invitational, winning a pair of matches along the way.

The duo beat Haley Dubits and Kelly Sullivan of Sacred Heart University, 8-2, in the first round before topping Robyn Ferraro and Maureen Devlin of the host school, 8-3, in the second. Ott and Hughes were then defeated by a University of Delaware team in the quarterfinal round.

Another Greyhounds tandem, Nicole Eberle and Amanda Lanciano also moved on to the No. 2 doubles flight quarterfinals, beating Drexel University's Amanda Tilles and Jennifer White, 8-4.

Julie Clark and Ania Krawiec lost their first round match in the flight, but they beat teams from La Salle University, Sacred Heart and Drexel en route to a runner-up finish in the consolation bracket.

In singles play, Hughes won matches - over Saint Joseph's Arianne Polatnick and Delaware's Kim Milla - in the No. 2 singles flight to reach the semifinal round.

Ott and Krawiec each won first round matches in the No. 3 singles flight, and Lanciano picked up a win in the flight's consolation bracket. Eberle also won a match in the No. 4 singles flight singles draw.
