VILLANOVA, Pa. - Loyola University Maryland sophomores Blest Jones and Brett Shriver finished sixth place at this weekend's Villanova Invitational, the highest finish by a Greyhounds duo at the event.

Jones and Shriver won two of their four matches in the points-of-the-compass format at the event. The format ensures that every doubles pair plays four matches. The teams play doubles and then singles against the doubles foes. The team that wins two or three of those matches advances.

In the opening round, Jones and Shriver beat a team from fellow Patriot League school Lafayette College before falling to a Villanova University side in the second. They rebounded to defeat a Chestnut Hill College pairing in the third round before falling to Villanova's Jimmy Purdy and Tommy Dodson in the fifth-place match.

Connor Pietrak and Alex Castro finished ninth in the event, sweeping Lafayette Brian Stefanowicz and Chris Matturri in the final.

Jordan Kuchta and Reid Burch were right behind in 11th place, topping another Leopards tandem, Gavin Studner and Mason Keel, in the final round.

Greg Olesnycky and Tyler Blessing were 20th, Jack Shortell and Brett Ishihara won their final match to place 21st, and Matt Beijan and C.J. Cash were also final-round winners to place 23rd.
