LEWISBURG, Pa. - Freshmen teammates Meghan Hahn and Meredith Dwyer won their respective singles flights on Sunday at the Bucknell Quad, capping a good opening weekend for the Loyola University Maryland tennis teams.
Hahn was victorious in Flight `A', defeating Bucknell's Maria Cioffi, 6-2, 6-2, in the championship.
Dwyer downed Cioffi's teammate, Claudia Silvers, 6-2, 6-1, to win the title in Flight `C'.
Olivia Ott and Claire Oswald both won their opening round matches in Flight `B' before falling in the quarterfinals. Emily Hughes advanced out of the first round with a win in Flight `A', but she lost her quarterfinal match, as well.
Hahn and Ott were also very successful as a doubles team, winning the women's doubles draw. The duo won four matches, capping their performance with an 8-1 victory over Cioffi and Steph Pino in the title match.
Haleigh Morgus and Emily Hughes lost their opening match in doubles action, but they advanced through the consolation bracket to win the consolation final, 8-5, over Bucknell's Alyssa McAndrew and Jen Bush.
In men's play, Bobby Gorzczakowski and Connor Pietrak got through to the consolation final with a pair of wins before falling, 8-4, to Bucknell's Evan Zimmer and Josh Katten.
