Men's Tennis Falls To Army West Point In Patriot League Quarterfinals

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Second-seeded Army West Point won the doubles point and then took three-straight singles matches to defeat the seventh-seeded Loyola University Maryland men's tennis team, 4-0, in the Patriot League Quarterfinals Friday night at Lehigh's Lewis Tennis Center.

The Black Knights went up 1-0 in the match after Grant Riechmann and Harrison McCormick beat Blest Jones and Brett Shriver, 6-1, at No. 1 doubles. Sam Lampman and Michael Nguyen then beat Tyler Blessing and Greg Olesnycky, 6-2, in the No. 3 match to get Army West Point the doubles point.

Lampman opened singles action with a 6-3, 6-2, victory over Jordan Kuchta at No. 1 singles, while Riechmann beat Blessing, 7-6 (7), 6-0, at No. 2 singles. David Mitchell then downed Reid Burch, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 3 singles to clinch the match for the Black Knights.

Nguyen and Connor Pietrak were split at No. 4 singles when the match was called. Pietrak took the first set, 7-6 (3), but fell in the second set, 6-2.
