ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The U.S. Naval Acadmey women's tennis teams won two doubles matches to take the opening point, and the Midshipmen did not drop a set in completed singles matches Friday, beating Loyola University Maryland, 4-0, in the Patriot League Championships Quarterfinals.
Carlee Conway and Kristine Rojo opened the match with a 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles, getting past Loyola's Megan Hahn and Julie Clark. Amanda Keller and Claudia Mackenzie then posted a victory by the same score at No. 1 doubles against Amanda Lanciano and Ania Krawiec.
In singles action, Mackenzie closed her No. 3 contest with a 6-0, 6-0 decision against Emily Hughes, and Keller beat Hahn, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 for Navy's third point of the afternoon.
Josie Rogers finished the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6, defeating Loyola's Nicole Eberle.
Three matches were left unfinished, including one that Lanciano led, 5-4 at No. 2 against Logan Antill.
