Navy Defeats Men's Tennis In Patriot League Quarters

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The second-seeded U.S. Naval Academy swept Loyola University Maryland, 4-0, Friday night in the Patriot League Men's Tennis Quarterfinals that are being held at Bucknell University.

The Midshipmen won the doubles point as Blake Daniel and Calvin Mark beat Reid Burch and Brett Shriver, 8-2, at No. 2, and Tucker Massie and Walker Sims claimed an 8-3 victory over Alex Castro and John Ferruzzi at No. 3.

Mark then scored a 6-2, 6-4, victory over Greg Olesnycky at No. 1, and Daniel topped Connor Pietrak, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 3. Andrey Majkic clinched the Midshipmen's victory with a 6-2, 6-2, win over Shriver at NO. 6.

Other matches were halted when Navy reached its fourth team point. Burch was leading Thomas Pecor, 6-4, 1-4, at No. 4 singles at the time of the clinching point.
