BALTIMORE - Senior captain Bobby Gorczakowski and the Loyola University Maryland men's tennis team defeated Dickinson College, 6-1, at Butler Courts Wednesday afternoon to raise their record to 11-5 for the season.
Gorczakowski and teammate Connor Pietrak started the match off with another doubles win for the books. The pairs' win makes them the most winningest doubles partners in a season with 21. Also, Gorczakowski tied his own record for most doubles victories in a season with 21, as he increase his most doubles win in a career to 64.
At #2 doubles, Greyhounds' Harrison Kunkel and Connor Lisco swept Dickinson's John Britton and Hunter Dearing with a match score of 8-0. Freshmen Jordan Kuchta and Greg Olesnycky sealed the deal on the third doubles match with a hard fought 9-7 victory over the Red Devils.
With the early 1-0 lead, Dickinson put themselves right back into contention with a victory in #1 singles. Chris Mueller Wolf of the Red Devils needed three sets to take down Gorczakowski, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. Loyola didn't hesitate to take the momentum back, as they took the next five matches. Lisco stood out in singles with a solid 6-0, 6-0 win over Dixon Blue. Teammate Kuchta and Olesnycky both pulled out tough victories in the #4 and #6 singles matches to lead Loyola to a 6-1 defeat of the Red Devils.
The men are back in action on Saturday as they take on MAAC foe Saint Peter's at Butler Courts. Start time of the match is set for 10 a.m.
