April 15, 2014

LUTHERVILLE, Md. - Freshmen Max Shanbrom and Matthew Beijan scored straight-set wins, and the Loyola University Maryland men’s tennis team defeated visiting Dickinson College, 7-0, on Tuesday afternoon at Greenspring Racquet Club.

Rain forced the match indoors, but the Greyhounds did not lose a set to the Red Devils.

Shanbrom beat John Kneisley, 7-6 (1), 6-2 in No. 5 singles, and Beijan topped Josh Kaseff, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6.

Harrison Kunkel played the No. 1 singles match, downing Ari Blask, 6-1, 7-5, and Greg Olesnycky was a 6-2, 6-0 winner over Clark Chapman at No. 2. Jordan Kuchta used scores of 6-1, 6-3, to best Erik Dinardo, the same totals that Alex Castro recorded in a win over Steven Kaplan at No. 4.

Kunkel and Connor Lisco teamed to beat Dinardo and Chapman, 8-0, at No. 1 doubles, while Olesnycky and Kuchta beat Blask and Kaplan, 8-0, too, at No. 2. Castro and Shanbrom paired to defeat Kaseff and Davis, 8-2, at No. 3 doubles.
