ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Amanda Lanciano and Haleigh Morgus recorded singles wins for the Loyola University Maryland women's tennis team, but the Greyhounds fell, 5-2, at the U.S. Naval Academy on Wednesday in Patriot League action.
Morgus and Emily Hughes also were winners in doubles action, beating Audrey Channel and Kristine Rojo, 6-3, at No. 2.
The Midshipmen, however, won the doubles point as Amanda Keller and Claudia MacKenzie pulled out a 6-4 victory at No. 1 doubles over Lanciano and Ania Krawiec, and Rozel Hernandez and Catalina Rico beat Megan Hahn and Julie Clark, 6-3, at No. 3.
Lanciano used a long super-tiebreaker to post a 6-2, 4-6, (12-10) victory over Logan Antill at No. 2 doubles, and Morgus beat Katie Porter, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 4.
Nicole Eberle looked to make it three singles victories for the Greyhounds, winning the first set, 6-1, at No. 6, but Rojo came back to win the final two sets, 6-1, 6-0.
