BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryland's Ania Krawiec was down a break, 4-2 in the second set of her No. 6 singles match, but she did not lose another game, and she scored the clinching point a 4-3 victory for the Greyhounds over Villanova University on Sunday afternoon.
Krawiec edged Kate Pettee, 6-2, 6-4 and was one of three singles winner for Loyola after it won the doubles point.
Earlier in the day, the Greyhounds opened the match with two doubles wins, taking the doubles point from the Wildcats. Krawiec and her partner, Amanda Lanciano, beat Smyth and Victoria Martines, 8-6, at No. 1, and Morgus and Emily Hughes topped Linley Busby and Paulina Bajet, 8-6, at No. 3.
Villanova narrowly won the other doubles match as Pettee and Samantha Schafer used a tiebreaker to slip past Hahn and Olivia Ott, 8-7 (4).
In men's action, the Wildcats beat Loyola, 6-1. Connor Pietrak scored the Greyhounds' point with a three-set victory over Bradley Noyes, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4, at No. 3 singles.
