LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell University and Loyola University Maryland men's tennis split the six singles matches, but the Bison came away with the Patriot League win by virtue of the doubles point on Saturday afternoon.
Reid Burch scored a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Kane at No. 3 singles, and Pietrak was a 6-4, 7-5 winner against Vittul a slot below. Jones then used a tiebreaker in the second set to beat Gerber, 6-4, 7-6 (6) for a victory at No. 5.
Bybel picked up a Bucknell point at No. 1 with a 6-2, 6-1 victory against Kuchta, and Wright beat Tyler Blessing, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 2. Erskine then capped the match with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 6 against Castro.
The Bison also picked up a win in women's action, defeating Loyola, 6-1.
Amanda Lanciano was the lone winner for the Greyhounds, defeating Lisa Jouravleva, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 2 singles.
Maria Cioffi and Michele Urbinati downed Lanciano and Ania Krawiec, 6-2, at No. 1 doubles, and Stephanie Pino and Emilee Bush beat Megan Hahn and Julie Clark, 6-3, at No. 3. The No. 2 doubles match was not finished after Bucknell claimed the doubles point.
Cioffi then won the No. 1 singles match, 6-4, 6-0, over Hahn, and Lauren Fishbein beat Emily Hughes, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 3. Urbinati defeated Haleigh Morgus, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 4 singles, and Mishi Papich was a 6-3, 7-6 (4) victoy over Clark at No. 5, and Pino edged Nicole Eberle, 7-6 (5), 6-1, at No. 6.
The men's tennis team will celebrate its senior day on Sunday when it hosts the University of Delaware at 1 p.m. at the McClure Tennis Center.
