BALTIMORE - Amanda Lanciano and Ania Krawiec rallied to win their No. 1 doubles match Monday afternoon against Towson University, but the Tigers won every other match and defeated Loyola University Maryland women's tennis, 7-0.
Lanciano, who earlier in the day was named the Corvias Patriot League Women's Tennis Player of the Week, and Krawiec trailed Nicole Shakhnazarova and Renate van Oorschodt, 4-3, but the Greyhounds pair rallied to win the contest, 8-5.
The Tigers, however, won other two doubles matches to take the opening point in the overall score.
Emily Hughes and Haleigh Morgus rallied from an early deficit in No. 3 doubles to take a one point lead, but Cailey Easdale and A.J. Gomer came back for Towson to force a tiebreaking point, and the Tigers' duo won, 8-7 (4).
In singles action, Towson swept all six matches in straight sets.
Loyola's women are back in action on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. against Geoge Mason University at the McClure Tennis Center.
