BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryland men's tennis played the first-ever match at the soon-to-be dedicated McClure Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon, but Lehigh University left with a 7-0 victory over the Greyhounds.
The $3.2-million center will be dedicated on Saturday, April 11, with the grand opening match. Until then, the Greyhounds will play their matches there.
Connor Pietrak won the first set of his No. 3 singles match, but Jack Petersen came back for a 4-6, 6-4, (4) win. Brett Shriver also pushed his match to a super-tiebreaker third set, but Tyler Hansen downed the Loyola freshman in No. 6 singles, 6-3, 7-9, (4).
Loyola's women are the next in action as the host Towson University on Monday, March 30, at 3:30 p.m.
