LUTHERVILLE, Md. - Loyola University Maryland's women's tennis team swept the six singles matches Saturday night, and the Greyhounds earned a 7-0 Patriot League win over visiting Colgate University indoors at the Greenspring Racquet Club.
Amanda Lanciano and Ania Krawiec topped Jen Ho and Katie Grant, 8-5, to kick off the women's match with a win at No. 1 doubles. Megan Hahn and Olivia Ott then clinched the doubles point for the Greyhounds, winning the No. 3 match, 8-4, over Kristie Woodburg and Lindsey Madnick.
Hahn would post a 6-4, 6-4, No. 1 singles victory over Ho, and Lanciago used a super-tiebreaker third set to beat Britton at No. 2, 5-7, 6-2, (2), and the Greyhounds led the match, 3-0.
Emily Hughes rallied from a first-set loss to beat Grant, 2-6, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 3 singles, and Haleigh Morgus took care of Hannah Fleckenstein, 6-0, 6-1. Julie Clark downed Woodburg, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 5, and Krawiec completed the singles sweep with a 6-0, 6-3, win over Madnick.
The men's team was swept in doubles play, but it picked up a pair of singles wins against Colgate. Pietrk edged Nick Lamb, 6-4, 6-7 (4), (5), at No. 3, and Blest Jones was a 7-5, 7-5 victory over Rob Alter.
