Men and Women's Tennis Split Doubleheader

BALTIMORE - The Loyola University Maryland men and women's tennis team split matches on Saturday, both falling to Colgate University, and later, a victory against the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. 

In the morning match against Colgate, the men's squad lost, 5-2, moving their record to 5-3. Junior Connor Lisco and Freshman Alex Castro won their singles matches for the Greyhounds. Lisco took it to extra sets to beat Mark Pronchick, 1-6, 6-4, 6-3. 

In doubles, Bobby Gorczakowski and Connor Pietrak downed the Raiders' Luke Gensburg and Harry Jewett, 8-5.

In the second match against UMES, the men won 7-0 to raise their record to 6-3 for the season.

Senior C.J. Chomeau and freshmen Tim Dowd and Ryan McFarland won their matches to help the Greyhounds get the victory. 

The men will welcome MAAC foe Rider to Butler Courts on April 1 for a dual match. Start time is set for 2 p.m.

In the first match of the day for the women's team, the Greyhounds fell short, losing to Colgate, 4-3. #1 doubles Megan Hahn and Olivia Ott won, 8-4, for Loyola, but the Raiders took the early lead, taking the doubles point. 

In singles, Hahn and Ott continued to stay hot as they both won their matches. Freshman Haleigh Morgus also won her singles match, 6-0, 6-0.

In their second match, the women's squad improved their record to 5-2 as they took down UMES, 7-0. Freshman Claire Oswald won, 6-0, 6-0, to help the Greyhounds with the victory.

The women are set to take on Towson at Butler Courts on March 26 for their next match. Start time is set for 3 p.m.
