Lehigh Sweeps Tennis Teams In Patriot League Opener

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Amanda Lanciano was the lone winner in singles play, and two doubles pairs posted wins, Sunday as Lehigh University defeated the Loyola University Maryland men's and women's tennis teams in their Patriot League openers.

Lanciano earned a 6-4, 7-5 victory in No. 2 singles for the women, defeating Grace Lin. Lehigh, however, beat the Loyola women, 6-1.

Megan Hahn and Emily Hughes posted a victory for the Greyhounds in doubles action, besting the Mountain Hawks' Briana Maravich and Kristin Godau, 6-4, at No. 3.

On the men's side, Jordan Kuchta and C.J. Cash were 7-5 winners at No. 3 doubles against Jack Petersen and Bryant Born.

In closely-contested singles' play, Jeremy Kochman beat Kuchta, 6-2, 4-6, 6-1, at No. 1, and Born defeated Tyler Blessing, 7-5, 7-6 (4).

Reid Burch's nine-match winning streak was snapped by Petersen, 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 (3), at No. 3 singles. George Cooper beat Connor Pietrak, 7-6 (2), 3-6, 6-3, at No. 4, and Colin Nardella topped Alex Castro, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 5.

Ethan Bongard then defeated Blest Jones, 6-4, 6-0, at No. 6.

Jones and Brett Shriver were defeated, 6-1, at No. 1 doubles by Kochman and Graham Lehman, and Pietrak and Castro fell, 6-2, to Cooper and Ricardo Prince at No. 2.

Christina Auyeung beat Megan Hahn, 6-2, 6-1, at women's No. 1 singles, and Jamie Campisi beat Emily Hughes, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 3. Maravich topped Haleigh Morgus, 6-4, 6-4, and Cassidy Cruz beat Julie Clark, 4-6, 7-5, (10-8), at No. 4 and 5, respectively.

Godau finished the match for Lehigh with a 6-3, 6-4, win over Nicole Eberle.
