Delaware State took four of the singles matches and the doubles point to collect a 5-2 victory Friday afternoon over the women's tennis team in Dover, Del. The loss was the first for Loyola after starting the season 4-0.
The Hornets took two of the three doubles matches to take that single point. The only Greyhounds tandem to win was the team of junior Judy Lite and sophomore Scarlett Hoy at No. 2 doubles, topping Anna Ratnikova and Polina Razborova, 8-5.
Hoy also picked up a win in her singles match at No. 3, defeating Christina Andrade in a three-set tie-breaker, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (6). Junior Rachel Janasek won the only other Loyola point with her victory at first singles, besting Ratnikova in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0.
The Greyhounds are back in action Saturday at the Butler Courts with both teams facing La Salle. The men get started at 10:00 a.m. with the women scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
