BALTIMORE - The Loyola University Maryland men's and women's tennis teams swept visiting La Salle University at the McClure Tennis Center, each scoring 7-0 victories over the Explorers.
Amanda Lanciano and Ania Krawiec teamed to win the No. 1 doubles match, defeating Ally Aantarelli and Jayla Smith, 6-1. Megan Hahn and Emily Hughes followed with a 6-0 sweep of Kathryn Thomas and Asha Wentzel at No. 2, and Julie Clark and Nicole Eberle defeated Ashley Anderson and Cecile Jonhson, 6-1, at No. 3, to wrap up pairs action.
The Greyhounds went on to win all 12 singles matches in men's and women's play in straight sets.
Hahn used a 6-1, 6-3 score to beat Santarelli in No. 1 singles action, and Lanciano beat Smith, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 2. Hughes was then a shutout winner, 6-0, 6-0, over Thomas at No. 3.
Clark bested Anderson, 6-3, 6-0, at the No. 4 slot, and Eberle was a 6-1, 6-0, winner at No. 5. Krawiec then did not yield a set in a 6-0, 6-0, win over Wentzel.
On the men's side, each of the doubles pairs lost just one set with each winning, 6-1.
Blest Jones and Brett Shriver defeated Tomas Christian and Mark Robinson at No. 1 doubles, while Jordan Kuchta and C.J. Cash were winners against Brian Balico and Joe DiOrio at No. 2. Greg Olesnycky and Alex Castro then completed the doubles sweep with a win over Liam Rodriguez and Lane Bangis.
Kuchta led off singles play with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Balico at No. 1, and Tyler Blessing was a 6-3, 6-3 victory against Christian at No. 2.
Reid Burch won his ninth-straight match with a 6-1, 7-5 decision against Robinson, while Jones remained undefeated in spring singles matches, defeating DiOrio, 6-2, 6-3.
Olesnycky topped Rodriguez, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 5, and Brian Hoffarth made his collegiate debut with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Bangis.
The Greyhounds take a day off before traveling to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania for matches on Sunday, March 20, at Lehigh University.
